If you are thinking of showing your cat.....
Show Preparation A British Shorthair cat in general does not need to have a conventional bath, however an occasional bran bath is always enjoyed and it does clean the coat of any dirt and excess grease and is best done three or four days prior to the show. Bran can bought in a medium size bag from any supermarket. Place all the bran in a deep bowl and warm in the microwave, for the actual bathing process I find it best to use a baby bath, sit the cat in the bath and scoop the warm bran in your hand and rub gently through the coat right down to the roots. The cat will love the warm massage. It takes a good half hour or so to complete a thorough job of rubbing and massaging every inch of the cat, then start to comb out the bran right through the coat.. The day before the show, trim the cats nails, front and back paws, and clean it's ears. A good comb through will remove any last traces of bran and all that is needed then is a 'polish ' with a velvet grooming mitt. On the morning of the show double the check the cat has, clean ears, eyes and bottom. For yourself, comfortable shoes and possibly a packed lunch, a couple of Panadol and a good pen to mark up your show catalogue.
